Microsoft released the Windows 11 24H2 update (KB5060842) in June, but then urgently paused the update due to compatibility issues with some devices.
Given that Microsoft has long since laid off the Windows NT testing team, bugs during updates are now common, but this is the first time that security updates have been restricted.
Microsoft officially said that the issue found in this update affected a small number of devices, but did not disclose the specific reason.
However, Microsoft has released a revised KB5060842 update and is gradually rolling it out to affected devices, emphasizing that affected users will soon receive the revised update with all the June security improvements.

If the user still hasn’t received the update by the end of the day, they can manually download the KB5060842 from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
The update originally included several improvements, such as fixing a memory leak that could be caused by input services such as keyboard and mouse interactions, which could cause stuttering in some popular games.
In addition, Microsoft also fixed an issue where the game could become unresponsive immediately after installing Windows 11 24H2, which mainly affected users upgrading from 23H2 and 22H2.
The update also introduces a hard limit of 60 days on system restore points, which means that users can now keep restore points for up to 60 days.
The June update also added features such as the new “drag to tray” sharing UI, but these improvements are likely to be rolled out gradually, and users may not see all the new features immediately after applying the patch.
