The Origin of the Dragon Clan in the Heart of Darkness
Although the birth motivation of the Heart of Darkness is shrouded in mystery, we know that it was created by the earth guardian Nefaro during his manic experimental phase inspired by ancient gods. The Soul of the Dragon is one of his many creations, an extremely powerful artifact that can absorb the energy of enemies and destroy them in large pieces. This special artifact has its own profound and unsettling story, involving the betrayal of the dragon race, time travel, the extinction and conquest of almost all dragons, time travel again, and the ultimate destruction of its creator (Deathwing form).
It has been proven that the Soul of the Dragon may not be Nefaro’s first attempt to create an energy absorbing disc containing astonishing energy. Khadgar believes that the Heart of Darkness is likely just the prototype of the Dragon Soul discarded by the Earth Guardian and its goblin craftsmen. It may just be a practice piece, before requesting the power of the ancient god to assist in creating the Dragon Soul, he wants to ensure that a suitable container can be created. Regardless of the motive behind creating the Heart of Darkness, Nefaro hid it in a forbidden area. He used the primitive power of the Dragon Soul to betray other dragon clans and converted to the Dark God in the ancient war ten thousand years ago. The conflict ultimately ended with a loud bang, and the collapse of the earth forcibly changed the appearance of the planet, isolating the Dragon Islands from the outside world. The Infinite Revenge of Eridi Clone
At the beginning of the Dragon Legion, after the veil covering the Dragon Islands dissipated, the heroes of Azeroth spent a lot of their free time fighting against the newly awakened primitive incarnations. These four immensely powerful ancestral dragons rejected the orderly worldview of the Titans and instead embraced the power of the elements. Although they had already been defeated and imprisoned for 20000 years, their resentment towards the Dragon Legion or Titans did not diminish when they woke up from their stagnation. Although Razsaggs, who injected lightning, died while rescuing the other three incarnations, the rock solid rainbow dragon did not hesitate to lead the remaining incarnations straight to the forbidden area.
Our understanding of Eridi Clone indicates that he always strives to be two steps ahead of his allies and five steps ahead of his enemies. When the residents of the Dragon Islands were attracted by the newly acquired power of Philak and the growing army of Jaladin, Iridikron began to search for the Infinite Dragon Legion. His goal is to inject the essence of the dead spirit of the terrible corrupted ancestor giant dragon Galaclone into the heart of darkness. To achieve this goal, he needs to go back in time, to the era when the five founding dragons joined forces with the guardian Tyr to slaughter this huge and hungry dragon.
Fortunately, Kromi of the Bronze Dragon Legion recruited a group of burly young adventurers to follow the time traveling path of Eridi Clone, attempting to defeat him and his infinite allies in the giant underground city of “Infinite Dawn”. After experiencing some mistakes and restructuring of the timeline, Eridi Clone finally completed the task of recharging the Heart of Darkness. After explaining that Heart of Darkness would be used by pioneers to control Azeroth, we caught our last glimpse of him escaping through the portal and merging with a shadow figure. Saratas’ tricks and conspiracies
In the trailer of ‘Battle of the Center of the Earth’, we discover that the dark and sinister pioneer is Saratas, an ancient void entity that plays an evil role in various events in Azeroth’s history. When the warriors of Azeroth defeated Felak and cleared their Dragon quest logs, Salata was busy making a deal with the Spider Demon of Azkakh. As a condition for the loyalty of the spider demons, she allowed the most powerful warrior among them to evolve into a soaring form.
After enticing the mage of Dalaran to teleport this floating city to Kazarga, Salata released a swarm of spider demons to attack its residents. The heroes of Azeroth were ordered to strengthen the magical defense of this city. However, this was ultimately just a trick, as these instructions came from a pioneer disguised as a long lost great mage, actually to assist her in taking the next step. Sarata absorbed Dararan’s arcane essence, injected it into the heart of darkness, then blew up the city, turned Kadega into ashes, and finally escaped. We have been dealing with the constantly invading Spider Demons in the following chapters. When the Spider Demon launched its largest attack on the Holy Fall Boundary, Aurelia Windrunner received cross dimensional intelligence from Khadgar and quickly rushed to the Holy Flame Monastery. Although we have been accustomed to the changes of light and shadow in the holy fall, Sarata has absorbed the emptiness essence of the huge crystal into the heart of darkness by using the dark stage of Beleda.
Orelia confronted Saratas in the monastery and fired a precise arrow that hit the heart of darkness. A devastated raven (Kadgar) condensed from the energy leaked from this Shadow artifact, and the Pioneer fled. Kadgar transformed back into human form, and the heroes of Azeroth regrouped to continue pursuing Saratas and the Heart of Darkness. Goblin successfully repaired Heart of Darkness
Despite her cunning and strength, some of her hands-on repair work seems beyond the capabilities of the pioneers. Given that the goblin had been involved in many of Nefaro’s experiments a long time ago, she found the most ruthless goblin on the continent of Azeroth – Galiviks. As a condition for repairing the Heart of Darkness, Saratas allowed him enough energy to permanently occupy the goblin capital of Andromeda with force.
Gary Vickers eventually used his best trick and forcibly recruited a smarter goblin to truly repair it. In order to continue producing powerful weapons, he refused to deliver the repaired Heart of Darkness, which ended up falling into the hands of a group of virtual spirits – Shadow Guardians – who believed in the void and allied with Saratas. Their leader, the phase thief Azl, appeared in Andemane and took the Heart of Darkness from Galvix’s hands.
Gary Vickers was unaware that Azel was no longer playing for Saratas. He only learned the news when the heroes of Azeroth broke in and tried to overthrow him. The last time we caught a glimpse of the Heart of Darkness, it was in the hands of the phase thief Azl, who looked up at a huge, glowing, seemingly shattered building. Going to the planet Kalesh?
After the liberation of Andromeda, our pursuit of the Heart of Darkness is likely to continue throughout the entire universe. Azel is likely to have brought this artifact to the home planet of the Void Spirit, Kalesh, which was destroyed by the Void Lord Devourer Dementius a long time ago (we once defeated a small fragment of it in TBC’s magic furnace). Why did Azel suddenly betray Saratas and bring the Heart of Darkness into the ruins of a shattered planet? Is it used to heal the planet or to fight against Demetrius himself? What is the ultimate plan of the pioneers?
The fate of Heart of Darkness and Azeroth will be revealed in the next few patches of World of Warcraft. As we suddenly discover multiple forces attempting to use Heart of Darkness for their own purposes, the situation becomes chaotic. In order to face the real threat from the void, we may travel to the Void Lord Kalesh in version 12.0, and even make a deal with Sargeras who is under Illidan’s supervision.
After all, as physical beings, our true enemy will always be the Void Lord. Whether it’s a Void Spirit or a Fallen Titan, they are all temporary collaborators.
