Kuai Technology reported on May 6 that while updating the latest status of Windows 11, Microsoft also updated the latest status of Windows 10, reminding users that Windows 10 will officially end support on October 14, 2025.
Microsoft said that from that date, devices running Windows 10 will no longer receive fixes for known problems, time zone updates, technical support, and monthly security and preview updates with the latest security threat protection.
At the same time, Microsoft also provides users with several countermeasures. First, it can check whether the current Windows 10 device is eligible to upgrade to Windows 11. Devices that meet the upgrade conditions can install the latest version of Windows 11 24H2.
For devices that are not eligible for upgrade, Microsoft recommends that users buy a new Windows 11 computer. Microsoft also recently emphasized the great advantages of Copilot+ AI computers over old Windows 10 devices.
For users whose devices are not eligible for Windows 11 upgrade, Microsoft also provides another option: purchase extended security updates (ESU).
This is the first time that Microsoft has launched the ESU option for individual users. Previously, ESU was mainly aimed at enterprise users. ESU will provide users with additional security support to ensure that the device can still run safely after the end of support for Windows 10.
