IT Home reported on May 16 that Microsoft’s official account “Windows” shared a promotional video on its YouTube channel yesterday (May 15), with the slogan “We are much faster than Mac”, challenging Apple’s MacBook Air.
In the promotional video, Microsoft made it clear that in the Cinebench 2024 multi-core CPU benchmark, Windows 11 AI+ PC devices can perform up to 58% better than Apple’s MacBook Air products with M3 chips.
Although this data is based on an old report from May 2024, Microsoft added in small print that some Windows 11 AI+ PCs even surpassed the latest MacBook Air with the M4 chip in an attempt to prove its performance superiority.
Microsoft mentioned a number of high-end Windows 11 AI+ PC devices such as the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x (powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor), Microsoft Surface Laptop (also powered by Snapdragon X Elite), and HP OmniBook Ultra 14 (powered by AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375).
IT Home quoted technology media MacRumors as saying that the above devices did show faster speeds than Apple chips in certain tests, but the M4 chip series still leads the industry in performance per watt. This energy-efficient ratio gives MacBook Air fast performance, long battery life, and a thin and light fanless design.
