Microsoft has announced the launch of a new security program to boost cybersecurity for governments across Europe for free

Microsoft today announced the launch of the European Security Initiative, which provides free cybersecurity services to European governments to address cyberattacks, including AI-enhanced threats.

IT Home has learned from the official that the program covers the 27 countries of the European Union, EU candidate countries, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states, the United Kingdom, Monaco and the Vatican.

Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, said: “If we can bring the protection technology developed in the United States to Europe, it will help strengthen the information security protection of more European institutions.” ”

Core measures

AI Threat Sharing:

Extend real-time threat analysis capabilities based on Microsoft Government Security Program (GSP).
Provide criminal infrastructure data to law enforcement agencies through the Cybercrime Threat Intelligence Program (CTIP).
Microsoft’s Threat Analytics Center (MTAC) monitors impact operations such as AI deepfakes
Security Capacity Building:

Joint investigative operation with Europol’s European Centre for Cybercrime (EC3).
Continuation of a three-year partnership with the CyberPeace Institute
Strengthen border defenses with the Western Balkan Cybersecurity Competence Center (WB3C).
Crime Fighting Mechanism:

Implement a “Statutory Automatic Blocking Procedure” (SAD) to automatically send breach notifications to hosting service providers
April 2025 Joint Law Enforcement Agencies Shut Down Lumma, Theft Software (Involving 400,000 Infected Devices)
Dismantling the Russian hacker group “Star Blizzard” in September 2024 (confiscating 140+ malicious domains)

“Our goal is to ensure that defensive AI technology continues to evolve faster than offensive weapons,” said Brad Smith. No AI technology has been found to circumvent our threat detection capabilities. ”
