Microsoft pushes and tests the new Windows Start Menu: one page for all apps, two views

WFast Technology reported on June 10 that Microsoft is rolling out a newly designed Start Menu to Windows 11 testers, this version of the Start Menu is larger, more customizable, and introduces a new view mode.
The update first appeared in the Windows 11 preview in April and was officially announced by Microsoft in May, and now available through the latest Dev Channel, giving users the first official experience of the new feature.

Microsoft’s Windows Insider team said: “We’re making it easier for you to launch apps with an updated scrollable start menu. ”
The scrollable interface of the new start menu means that all apps are now on one page, and users don’t need to go to a second page to find the apps they need.
In addition, users also have the option to turn off the testimonials section so that more apps can be seen.
The new Start menu also offers two new view modes: Categorized View, which groups applications based on categories, and Grid View, which is alphabetically arranged like a traditional list view.

Microsoft has also resized the Start Menu based on device or display size, and on larger devices, users can see 8 columns of pinned apps, 6 recommended items, and 4 columns of categories in the Start menu; On smaller devices, you’ll see 6 columns of pinned apps, 4 recommendations, and 3 columns of categories.
In addition, a new mobile button has been added to the Start Menu, allowing users to expand or collapse the Phone Link interface, which is displayed side-by-side with the Start Menu.
Microsoft also allows Windows 11 users to choose which widgets appear on the lock screen, and users can add, remove, or rearrange lock screen widgets.
